Headline: MGA Member Club Officials Welcome to Attend 2010 USGA, NEGA, NERTF Regional Turfgrass Day on Tuesday, March 2

Norton, MA — The Massachusetts Golf Association (MGA) cordially invites all of its Member Club officials to attend the 2010 USGA, NEGA, NERTF Regional Turfgrass Day, which will be held on Tuesday, March 2 at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence, Rhode Island.

This special day - which is hosted by the USGA - features presentations on a wide range of topics aimed to assist golf professionals, superitendents and all interested club officials.

The morning session will feature the following presentations:

  • Managing Winter Covers to Prevent Cold Temperature Injury - Mr. Jim Ross, Assistant Director Prairie Turfgrass Research Centre Institute
  • Uninvited Guests: New Golf Course Tree Pests That You Need to Know About! - Mr. Jim Skorulski, Agronomist USGA Green Section
  • New Herbicides Offer Promise in Managing Annual Bluegrass - Dr. Randy Kane
  • Local Rules and Course Set-up: Their Impacts on Course Ratings and Speed of Play - Ms. Nancy Storey, Executive Director Maine State Golf Association

Following a lunch break, attendees will enjoy an afternoon of talks by USGA specialists. Presenters include David Oatis (director of the USGA Green Section), Adam Moeller (USGA Agronomist), Barbara Jodoin (Pinetree Country Club [GA]) and Craig Currier (Bethpage State Park [NY]).

The day will be capped off by a keynote address by former Major League Umpire Steve Palermo and a tradeshow and reception.

About the NERTF Regional Turfgrass Conference
A Northeast Regional Seminar conducted by the USGA and co-sponsored with the New England Regional Turfgrass Foundation and the New England Golf Association. This seminar is de-signed for Green Committee Members, Club Officials, Club Managers, Golf Course Super-intendents and Assistants, Golf Course Owners, Golf Association members and tnterested golf professionals.
