Junior Golf: Junior Golf Fund

On behalf of the more than 25,000 children and hundreds of volunteers, golf professionals and mentors who have taken part in MGA Junior Golf Programs over the years, we thank you for taking the time to learn more about The MGA Junior Golf Fund.

For nearly two decades the MGA has worked with scores of underprivileged Bay State youngsters as part of its The First Tee of Massachusetts and ForeKids Golf Programs.

It all started in 1992 when the MGA hosted a first-of-its-kind junior golf clinic at Franklin Park Golf Course in Dorchester. The organizers expected only a handful of children to attend, but Tiger Woods was competing in the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship at Wollaston Golf Club that year – and with his participation – hundreds of enthusiastic participants showed up to take part in the MGA's first free clinic. Many of them had never picked up a club before that day. The overwhelming response spurred the MGA to create the ForeKids Golf Program and, more recently, to launch The First Tee of Massachusetts.

There are disadvantaged kids in every community throughout our state whose situations would under normal circumstances prevent them from ever being exposed to this great game of golf. But we are changing that. Working with nearly 50 youth agencies in more than 35 cities and towns, we have reached out to thousands of kids who now know that golf can be a game for all people.

As an avid golfer, you know how the unique character and etiquette of the game teach important values including honesty, integrity and sportsmanship that can positively impact the lives of all who play it, especially children. The children are learning these important life lessons and more through The First Tee of Massachusetts and ForeKids Golf Programs.

The MGA offers these programs to the children at no charge and provides on-course access at three locations - on the North Shore, South Shore, and in Springfield. We are working on plans now to open up three new satellite programs in Worcester , Boston and on Cape Cod … and we would like you to help us make those plans become a reality by lending us your support.

Please join us in supporting the MGA Junior Golf Fund with your tax deductible contribution today. Your gift will not only help strengthen the future of golf in Massachusetts, but more importantly you will be helping thousands of kids learn the important lessons that the game of golf can teach us all.
