Player Services: Resources

As an added service to the golfers of Massachusetts, the MGA has compiled a list of resources that will assist the public in keeping up to speed on the happenings in amateur golf.

While the MGA is not responsible for managing these indepedent entities, the organization feels that they provide a valuable information service to the general public. We encourage you to contact the organizations directly with any questions.

Daily Newspapers

Boston Globe - Throughout the summer season, Globe Golf Writer Michael Whitmer provides full coverage of the amateur and professional circuit. Whitmer's Golf Notes section appears every Thursday.

   

Enterprise News- Golf Writer Bob DiCesare covers amateur golf with a specific focus on Southeastern players in his weekly Monday column in the Enterprise News.

Patriot Ledger - Nate Crossman travels the state during the summer months and covers all of the amateur golf action. Check out his weekly feature and game stories.

Springfield Republican - Longtime golf writer and editor Russ Held oversees a staff of writers who provide coverage of golf in the Springfield region.

Cape Cod Times- Sports Editor Bill Higgins makes sure that readers are up to date on all of the great golf that takes place on the Cape. From the season open Seagulls Tournament to the Cape Cod Amateur, this daily publciations covers it all

Berkshire Eagle - A lot of great golf happens west of Springfield, and the sports staff at the Berkshire Eagle makes sure that they have it all covered throughout the golf season.

 

New England Print Magazines

MassGolfer Magazine - The Official "Members" magazine of the MGA, the MassGolfer is regarded as one of the premier regional golf publications in the country. Each edition contains features on the most engaging issues facing golf in the Commonwealth and is available free of charge to any golfer who holds an up-to-date handicap index with an MGA Member Club.

North Shore Golf and Tennis Magazine - MGA Photographer David Colt and Historian/Author Gary Larabee are just two of the many contributors of this North Shore-based

New England Golf Monthly - Serving the interest of the Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine golf communities as well as the organizations in support of the game, the mission of New England Golf Monthly is to supply readers, associations and advertisers with a multiple forums to share information about the game at all levels.

Ocean State Golf - A Rhode Island-based publication, Ocean State Golf is a regional publication produced six times a year and provides coverage of amateur golf in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

 

Online Golf Publications

GolfWeek - Follow the writings of scores of top golf writers - including former Boston Globe writer Jim McCabe - in this weekly publication which provides in-depth coverage of everything from mini-tour events to the newest trends in the golf industry.

Golf Magazine - Each month, GOLF Magazine, SI Golf Plus and GOLF.com, known collectively as the Sports Illustrated Golf Group (SIGG), offers golfers and golf fans a monthly, weekly, daily solution, delivering instruction, equipment and travel advice as well as Tour coverage.

GolfWorld - Produced by Conde Naste, GolfWorld is one of several golf magazines that are available in print and online. Included in this impressive list of publications are Golf Digest and Golf Digest Woman.

ESPN Boston - Recently introduced, a handful of former writers from the Boston Globe and other local publications have come together to provide coverage of professional and amateur sports.

95.9 WATD-FM - Goldie Bounce Golf and WATD Sports Reporter Liza Churchill shares updates and chats with New England’s leading golf instructors, competitors, industry insiders and hotshots – even celebrity golfers — for a unique bird’s eye view of golf in New England.

Global Golf Post - The Global Golf Post is a weekly golf news publication that covers the international golf world and is aimed at a global audience of super avid core golfers. The publication is delivered 50 weeks per year.

A-Position - This online site features 17 journalists (with more joining all the time) who provide well-researched, intelligent, and irreverent writing about golf, travel, equipment, instruction, lifestyle, and related subjects.
