Key Services/Benefits

Handicapping

Mass Golf provides a GHIN # and Handicap Index to all members. A Handicap Index provides every golfer – regardless of age, gender, or skill level – with a universal measure of playing ability under the World Handicap System.

Member Days

Designed for golfers of all ages and playing abilities, Member Days are open to all Mass Golf Members. These one-day events offer access to some of the state’s finest private courses for an affordable, casual and fun experience.

Member Publication

The Massachusetts Golfer is a print publication available exclusively to Mass Golf Members and delivered to their doorsteps free of charge. Each volume will contain carefully considered stories and artful photography, representing a series of love letters to the game we adore, in the state that does it best.

Championships

Each season, Mass Golf sponsors and conducts nearly 60 events and 18 statewide championships for juniors, seniors, men, and women. Mass Golf also conducts Qualifying for several USGA Championships.

Women’s Events

Mass Golf offers everything from Women’s One Day events (social, non- competitive, casual and fun events) to Women’s Team Tournaments (friendly and competitive) and Women’s Cup Matches (inter-club competitions).

Team Tournaments

Mass Golf conducts several Parent Child, Mixed Team, and Women’s Tournaments each year. Additionally, Men’s Team Matches were introduced in 2024, allowing members to participate in a competitive and social inter-club format.

Junior Golf Programs

By way of programs like First Tee -Massachusetts, Youth on Course, and the Student Member Program, Mass Golf is committed to helping young golfers develop and gain access to life-changing opportunities through golf.

Hole-In-One Program

As a way of celebrating this achievement, Mass Golf sends each member a customized and distinctive bag tag and certificate that commemorates the accomplishment.

Golfer Support

Whether you have questions about Rules information, score posting, handicapping, event registration, or junior development, Mass Golf’s staff is ready to assist any active member.

Rules Education/FAQ

Mass Golf provides support and assistance for issues related to the Rules of Golf, amateur status, the World Handicap System, and course rating.

Online Score Posting

Members have the ability to post their scores by using the GHIN mobile app or visiting ghin.com. This official app also has a free course map & GPS feature, along with the ability to track stats and progress.

Volunteer Opportunities

Mass Golf proudly manages one of the largest volunteer programs in the Northeast. Volunteer opportunities include: Championships & Tournaments (General Volunteers and Rules Officials), Course Rating, and Junior Golf.

Our video library is populated with content to celebrate the history of the game, highlight courses and clubs across the state, recap championships, and tell stories about players and courses from our community.

Members are updated regularly through feature stories, event highlights, and press releases. These news stories are distributed through an e-newsletter – The Weekender, sent to active Mass Golf Members every Friday.

STEPS TO START YOUR OWN CLUB

  1. Have at least 10 active individual members
  2. Complete the new member club application form
  3. Participate in an educational session including passing a test to demonstrate knowledge of the rules of handicapping
